The BJJ kids classes take place twice a week. On Mondays and Wednesdays.
In every training, children playfully work on:
- attitude (physical, mental and social),

- keep calm in tense situations.
The lessons are usually given by an experienced trainer who has been working with children for a long time. During the school holidays we continue to train (with one exception).
Natural movement
Messing around as martial art
Children naturally mess around with each other. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an extension of that. We actually turn messing around into a martial art. Every lesson we discuss a position in which you can end up rolling around. We pay attention to both the defensive and the offensive possibilities.
Learning to fight is like learning to draw. It starts out wild and impulsive. With a lot of practice you get better and obtain more control. And it's then that you really benefit from it. It gives confidence when you know that you can stand up for yourself!
Age and modifications
The classes are open to boys and girls from 4 years old.
During the lessons, the Kids (4-8 years) and Juniors (9-14 years) are separated and train with peers.
All exercises are done in a controlled manner.
The instructor ensures that all exercises are done in a controlled manner.
And of course there is also a lot of fun!

Veelgestelde vragen
From what age can my child start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Children are welcome from the age of 4. They preferably train with someone of a similar age and size. Children under 16 who are already larger may sometimes join the adult classes.
Is BJJ safe for children?
BJJ is safe for children. Under the supervision of our instructors, on soft mats and with adapted techniques, the risk of injury is lower than in many ball sports. We emphasize control rather than strength.
Will my child become more aggressive or calmer from BJJ?
A common misconception is that children become more aggressive from martial arts. Children learn calmness, self-control and respect for others. When a child taps out, you must release, and they also learn to cope with losing. They carry these skills with them to school and home.
Is BJJ good for my child?
BJJ improves motor skills, coordination, strength and fitness; mentally it boosts self-confidence, discipline and problem-solving. Socially, children learn to collaborate and treat training partners respectfully.
Does BJJ help against bullying or for self-defense?
Through controlled grappling and escapes, children build the confidence to respond assertively without unnecessary force—exactly what’s needed to stop bullying or physical intimidation.
Which belts do children receive in BJJ?
Children receive colored stripes on their white, yellow, orange or green belts. On average, each belt takes 6–12 months; progression depends on attendance, effort and technical understanding.
