Boxing in Tilburg: Renzo Gracie Tilburg at the Boksgala Team Coolen

On Saturday, April 1, the Boxing Event 2023 of Team Coolen took place in De Kerk in Oostelbeers. Boxers from Team Coolen and 8 other clubs from the region competed in this fully equipped tournament, including ring, light, sound, referees and judges. Renzo Gracie Tilburg was also represented with four boxers, who put in impressive performances.
Gijs Huiskamp vs Milo Angelis
The first boxer of Renzo Gracie Tilburg to enter the ring was Gijs Huiskamp. He faced Milo Angelis from Albert Kraus Sport. Gijs was dominant from the start and easily dominated the game. With good footwork and the occasional switch from orthodox to south paw, the opponent couldn't get into the rhythm. Gijs dominated the match with excellent boxing and eventually won by intervention of the referee.
Tim Bierings versus Wiebe Leverink
In his first match, Tim Bierings faced the tall Wiebe Leverink of Albert Kraus Sport, who was more than a head taller and also 7 kg heavier. Tim started the game fiercely and dominated, so that the tall Wiebe Leverink was only in reverse. Tim came in well a few times and hit that long Wiebe in the face with some hard blows. In the end, the bout was decided by referee intervention in favor of Tim Bierings with a TKO in round 3.
Giel Rutten versus Guner Cicos
Giel faced his third match and this was also the biggest test Giel has had. Giel started strong, but Guner Cicos from Impact Sport Academy remained calm. A number of good combinations and striking hits over and over again. These two boxers gave everything, especially in the last round and especially in the last minute. Giel showed a lot of character by going forward a lot and getting into the fight, putting the opponent against the ropes and winning the jury decision in his favor in this exhausting battle. It was a very nice fight and spectacle of the day.
Gerard Gilles versus Jonas Beniktas
Heavyweight Gerard met the 27 kg heavier Jonas Beniktas of Boksclub Laarbeek here. This match was a battle of attrition for both boxers. Gerard didn't get into the rhythm very well and Jonas' mass was eventually too much, so that it went to Jonas Beniktas on points after the last bell.

Het Boksgala Team Coolen was voor ons een geslaagd gala waar we weer mooie resultaten hebben kunnen neerzetten. Met drie gewonnen wedstrijden van de vier hadden we een prima uitkomst. De boksers van Renzo Gracie Tilburg kregen dan ook veel complimenten over hun boksprestaties. Op dit mooie en goed georganiseerde hebben we zo onze stempel kunnen drukken.
