Renzo Gracie Tilburg wins 3 gold medals during Dutch Open

The Tilburg gym Renzo Gracie Tilburg took part in the largest Brazilian Jiu jitsu tournament in the Netherlands on Saturday, December 10, 2022, the 'BJJ Dutch Open' and managed to win three gold medals for Tilburg. With a mix of more experienced athletes and beginners, the team placed second out of 57 participating gyms.

BJJ Dutch open is the largest tournament for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Netherlands, with 419 athletes participating this year. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a ground fighting sport developed by the Gracie family. During the tournament, you can win a match by forcing a submission with a stranglehold or a lock.
The Gracie family popularized their ground fighting style with the founding of the UFC, which they won by storm in the early years.

Michael Vriens, Rafal Sup and Julian Witjes won gold in their weight classes. Tilburgers Mark van Vlierden, Bas Rutjes, Noah Kivits, Anton Wisse, Pepijn Schupp and Tim Bierings fought for what they were worth but had to settle for a few match wins.
