BJJ Dutch Open
BJJ Dutch open is the largest tournament for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Netherlands, with 419 athletes participating this year. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a ground fighting sport developed by the Gracie family. During the tournament, you can win a match by forcing a submission with a stranglehold or a lock.
The Gracie family popularized their ground fighting style with the founding of the UFC, which they won by storm in the early years.
Michael Vriens, Rafal Sup and Julian Witjes won gold in their weight classes. Tilburgers Mark van Vlierden, Bas Rutjes, Noah Kivits, Anton Wisse, Pepijn Schupp and Tim Bierings fought for what they were worth but had to settle for a few match wins.
