In November there will be another special training camp with Karel Pravec aka Silver Fox. Silver Fox is a BJJ black belt and one of Renzo Gracie's first students.
Karel Pravec
Karel Pravec is one of the most respected and influential figures in the world of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ). He is a fourth-degree black belt under Renzo Gracie, one of the first students of the Gracie family in the United States, and a successful instructor and coach who has produced several champions in BJJ and grappling.
Bio
Pravec was born in 1963 in Zlin, a city in the former Czechoslovakia. He grew up in Prague, but moved to the US with his parents when he was 17.
In America, Pravec became acquainted with various martial arts. He started taekwondo (TKD) in 1986 and earned his black belt under Master Byung Sung Cha. He also became interested in BJJ after attending a seminar in 1991 by Helio, Rorion, Rickson, Royler, Royce and other members of the Gracie family. This was his first contact with the Brazilian style of jiu-jitsu.
Renzo Gracie
Pravec trained for years under Renzo Gracie and developed an efficient and effective BJJ style that is characterized by a strong guard, smooth transitions and smart submissions. He received his black belt in 2002 and soon started running his own academy in Northern New Jersey: Silver Fox BJJ.
Silver Fox BJJ
Silver Fox BJJ is a renowned BJJ academy known for its quality instruction and friendly atmosphere. Pravec is known as a passionate and approachable teacher who enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with students of all levels, ages and backgrounds. He has also developed several online programs to make BJJ more accessible to everyone, such as his 2016 book 'Fluid BJJ'.
Pravec has also produced many well-known pupils who have excelled in various competitions. Some examples include Jerry Rinaldi, the 2009 ADCC runner-up; Erin Blanchfield, the champion of EBI 12; Sergio DeBari, an MMA fighter; Frank Roberts, Enrique Galarza & Juan Galarza, all successful BJJ competitors.
De naam Silver Fox
Pravec is widely regarded as one of the best instructors in the world and is regularly in demand for seminars and classes around the world. He has also been given a nickname that reflects his status: the Silver Fox. This nickname came about from one of Pravec's training partners at the Renzo Gracie Academy. Pravec always managed to 'outfox' him with his gray (silver) hair
